Saint Austell is a small town
that developed thanks to the discovery of china clay in the mid-18th century.
You should visit the Wheal Martyn China Clay Heritage Centre that is a beautiful site
offering woodland walks and spectacular views.
There are some nice beaches and the area has a mild climate,
which is proved by the palm trees growing in the town.
The 15th century Holy Trinity Church is worth a visit.
Unusual for Cornwall its tower is decorated with sculptured figures.
The biggest attraction, located close to St.Austell, is the Eden Project,
the largest conservatories in the world.
Nestled against the cliff there are two conservatories shaped like giant bubbles
that are home to thousands of plants from the tropical rainforest areas
and the warm climates of the Mediterranean regions.
Saint Austell is located in Cornwall:
42 km away from Falmouth
