Matlock

Matlock is situated in Derbyshire, on the edge of Peak District National Park, about 20 miles north of Derby. It became famous for hydropathy cures in the nineteenth century. Matlock is still a very busy administrative, shopping and tourist center. Hall Leys Park is in the center of the town and provides many recreational facilities, including tennis, miniature golf, a miniature railway, bowls, children's play area complete with paddling pool and small boating lake. Other attractions in the more immediate vicinity are the Red House Stables and the Carriage Museum at Darley Dales. The Gullivers Kingdom at Matlock Bath is a family theme park with rides suitable for young children. The Lead Mining Museum at Matlock Bath shows the history of lead mining throughout the Peak District.
