Londonderry

Londonderry, the capital of Northwest Ireland and the second largest city in Northern Ireland, is set on a hill on the banks of the Foyle estuary, close to the open sea. It is a lively modern European city. Nightlife, shopping and the range of accommodation is excellent. Among the many historic monuments, the massive city Walls on the west bank of the River Foyle are the most striking and memorable. Built between 1614 and 1619, the original Walls are almost perfectly preserved today. The picturesque Inner City features a number of fine buildings including St Columb's Cathedral (1633) and the neo-gothic Guildhall. Take a step back in time when you visit Craft Village, a portrayal of life in Derry from 16th to 19th century, located in the heart of the city centre.
