Lincoln is a small historic city situated in the East Midlands.
It is the administrative center for the county of Lincolnshire,
which extends from the River Humber in the North to the Wash in the South.
Lincoln Cathedral, that towers majestically over the city,
was started in 1072 but the original church was destroyed in the 12th century by fire and earthquake.
Most of the present Gothic Cathedral is from the 13th and 14th century but part of the original building still exists at the west front.
Another tourist attraction is a complete Norman Castle with spectacular views from the top of the walls and the Observatory Tower.
In the social history museum, housed in the old barracks of the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment,
you can see the interiors of Victorian shops and workshops, chemists, co-operative store, etc.
Lincoln is located:
180 km away from London.
