Hawick is the largest of the Border towns, and a frequent winner of national floral awards. It is internationally famous for the fashioning of fine quality knitwear, which is exported around the world.
For leisure and recreation Hawick has two 18 hole Golf Clubs. The Teviotdale Leisure Centre has a swimming pool with toddlers' section, squash courts, fitness room, Turkish steam room, solarium and indoor bowling hall.
The Hawick Museum and Scott Art Gallery features displays reflecting manufacturing, domestic life and rich history of the area, houses 19th and 20th century Scottish art and also runs a lively temporary exhibition programme.
