Hastings

Located on the seaside in East Sussex County, close to Eastbourne, Hastings is known world-wide as the site of the Battle of Hastings in 1066. It was here in October 14, that William the Conqueror led the Norman invasion of England, defeating King Harold in the Battle of Hastings, and then adopting a feudal constitution. The remains of William's castle still stand on West Hill as the city's foremost monument. The popular English fishing town of Hastings has become a major tourist resort.
