Dunfermline

Dunfermline is situated 6 km north-west of the Forth Bridge. The second-largest town in Fife has a history extending back over 1000 years to the foundation of a chapel by priests of the Celtic Church. Dunfermline is an industrial town and a home to printing industry, financial services, manufacturing of soft drinks, textiles, clothing, electronics and oil drilling equipment. The town has many public parks, playing fields and community centres in addition to the Carnegie Centre swimming baths, the football park of Dunfermline Football Club and three 18-hole golf courses. The attraction of the town is the Abbey dating back over 900 years to the time of King Malcolm and Queen Margaret, later Saint Margaret. You should also visit the ruins of Dunfermline castle.
